The DV-983H provides a rich array of features for serious home theater enthusiasts. By applying source-adaptive, motion-adaptive, and edge-adaptive techniques, the DV-983H produces an outstanding image for any DVD, whether it's mastered from an original theatrical release film or from a TV series. Aspect ratio conversion and multi-level zooming enable users to take full control of the viewing experience - maintain the original aspect ratio, stretch to full screen, or crop the unsightly black borders. Special stretch modes make it possible to utilize the full resolution of ultra high-end projectors with anamorphic lens. Custom home theater installers will find the DV-983H easy to integrate into whole-house control systems, thanks to its RS-232 and IR IN/OUT control ports.

To complete the home theatre experience, the DV-983H produces stunning sound quality. Its 7.1 channel audio with Dolby Digital Surround EX decoding offers more depth, spacious ambience, and sound localization. Additionally, the player supports DTS Digital Surround, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Pro-Logic II to accommodate any sound track found on a DVD. Music lovers will enjoy the precise rendering of CD, Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio. The DV-983H incorporates high resolution 192kHz, 24-bit audio D/A converters, isolated power supply circuitry, and quality passive components to deliver clear treble, deep bass, and a broad dynamic range.

VRS™ by Anchor Bay

With the DV-983H, OPPO has incorporated Anchor Bay's latest VRS (Video Reference Series) technology. An ABT102 chipset provides AutoCUE-C^TM, Progressive Cadence Detection^TM, and Precision De-interlacing^TM. An ABT1018 chip handles Precision Video Scaling^TM, frame rate conversion, aspect ratio control and video zooming. These technologies combine to generate a clearer, smoother, and true-to-life picture free of artifacts.

Up-conversion up to 1080p

The new generation of full HD 1080p televisions have up to 6 times more pixels than what is encoded in traditional DVD discs. The 1080p output from the DV-983H is a pixel-perfect match for 1080p TVs.

HDMI output

HDMI is an all digital interface for the cleanest possible connection. It delivers high-quality digital video and audio through a single cable. The HDMI audio output supports bit-stream and uncompressed multi-channel high-resolution audio, greatly simplifying connectivity for users with modern A/V receivers.

DVD-Audio, SACD & much more..

The OPPO DV-983H plays back standard DVD as well as DVD-Audio and SACD high resolution audio discs. It is a universal device for all of your favored home entertainment contents (note: Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are not supported.)

7.1 Channel audio with Dolby

Movie soundtracks that have been encoded with Dolby Digital Surround EX technology are able to reproduce an extra channel which has been added during the mixing of the program. This channel, called Surround Back, places sounds behind the listener in addition to the currently available front left, front center, front right, surround right, surround left and subwoofer channels. The additional channel provides the opportunity for more detailed imaging behind the listener and brings more depth, spacious ambience and sound localization then ever before.

Optimized high-fidelity audio

Taking inputs from audiovisual enthusiasts and world-famous high-fidelity audio equipment partners, OPPO designed the DV-983H with a focus on the precision rendering of Super Audio CD, DVD-Audio, HDCD and regular CDs. Its digital-to-analog (D/A) converters feature 192kHz high sampling rate and 24-bit resolution. The driving stage uses carefully selected op-amps and capacitors. Each section of the audio circuitry is powered by its own isolated power regulator, and the main power supply unit is electro-magnetically shielded. Combining these premium components in an optimized design, the DV-983H reduces quantization distortion and accurately reproduces the analog waveform, resulting in a faithful, natural, detailed and rich sound.

USB 2.0 interface

The DV-983H comes with a USB 2.0 interface to connect with external USB devices. The multi-format video, picture and music playback functions take the entertainment experience far beyond just discs.

High resolution slide show

The high resolution picture slide show fully utilizes the increased resolution of your HDTV to display digital pictures. Now you can enjoy your digital photos without a loss in quality or details.
