l'OPPO DV-980 H è forse l'ultimo lettore dvd da acquistare prima di passare all'alta definizione: con i prezzi sempre più bassi (specie per l'Hd Dvd), i supporti di prossima generazione saranno presto maturi per il grande mercato, ma nel frattempo questo piccolo apparecchio dal nome buffo è una scelta che vale tutti i suoi 198 euro.

Si vous pensez qu'il n'y a plus d'innovation du côté des lecteurs DVD, vous vous trompez. L'avènement de la haute définition ne signifie pas la disparition de ce standard d'autant que le Blu-Ray peine à convaincre. L'Oppo DV-980H que nous avons testé est un lecteur DVD nouvelle génération. Doté de circuit de conversion vidéo performant et d'une sortie HDMI, il permet de profiter d'une très bonne qualité d'image sur un écran haute définition. Nous avons de plus craqué pour ses capacités universelles du côté audio. Il est en effet compatible SACD et DVD-Audio, 2 standards qui gagnent à être connus.

Un lettore universale ad un prezzo così basso si temeva fortemente che potesse fornire prestazioni techniche e sonore troppo scadenti. Alla luce dei risultati di questa prova si può confrontarsi sotto vari aspetti con i lettori universali economici dei marchi più famosi sebbene questi ultimi costino notevolmente di più. Sulla base di questa constatazione si può certamente affermare che rapporto qualità prezzo di questo apparecchio è particolarmente elevato.

Playing a variety of discs through the Oppo served only to increase my appreciation of its abilities in audio terms, and this, coupled with its very fine performance as a video player, plus the added flexibility of its USB input and multiple audio/video outputs, makes it nothing short of a bargain at the price. OPPO DV-980H is a complex DVD player that offers a staggering amount of ability at an extraordinarily low price. Sound quality of CD, DVD-A and SACD via the onboard convertors and analogue outputs was good. Connected to a modern receiver via HDMI the player sounded even better, especially with SACD where it was superb. Something of a must for pennypinching audiophiles with DVD-A and SACD collections, this is a super online bargain.

OPPO is destined for big things in the UK if it continues to make DVD players as good as this. The OPPO DV-980H's feature list reads like an A-Z of DVD technology, boasting a host of appealing features like multiregion compatibility, HDMI v1.2 and a USB port, along with DVD-A and SACD support, wide media compatibility and even Dolby Digital Surround EX decoding. Its top-notch picture and sound performance, attractive slimline looks and solid build quality make it an even more appealing package. It needs some work in the remote control department and onscreen presentation could be jazzier, but overall this is one of the best-value DVD decks on the market right now.

OPPO DV-980H is the best example of an affordable, one-chip DVD player that I've seen as of yet. It performed many times above my expectations and the improvements Oppo have already made to it once again demonstrated why they have become such a trusted name.
